Sun 6 Sep: Perranporth to Padstow, via Newquay
A late start after a very late night. Such a shame I was too busy to enter the big Perranporth Triathlon event (starting with a 1km surf swim, 35m hilly road cycle and finishing with a 7.5km coastal running race!). Lunch on the beach with cousins A&J before setting off to Newquay ILBS. Great atmosphere on arrival, crowds on the quay watching the Cornish Gig racing.
Thanks to Norman Bailey & crew for the jolly welcome, hot tea & blueberry muffins. Just what I needed to get me back on the lumpy but very pretty coast road to Padstow ALB Station, via the stunning new Boathouse at Trevose Head.
Thanks Tammy & Paul at West House, Padstow – there’s nothing quite as welcoming to a weary, hungry traveller as a reheated, home cooked Sunday roast. Better than queueing for Rick Stein’s fish & chips!
