Day 03

Mon 7 Sep:  Padstow to Clovelly, via Rock, Port Isaac & Bude

Padstow to Rock Ferry

Thanks to Michael (Padstow crew) for the words of encouragement before leaving Padstow. Thanks also to Lindsey for the free ferry ride across to Rock ILB Station and to Paul (crew) and Mike (LOM) for another warm welcome.

Next – Port Isaac ILB Station, another serious contender for the steepest approach/departure gradient.

Port Isaac
What makes you think the Port Isaac Lifeboat has a crew member named Dennis?

Great to meet two of the volunteer crew members at work in their ‘normal’ jobs so close to the old Boathouse (George in the Fishermen’s Market and Nicki in her proper Cornish pasty shop). Thanks for the free lunch Nicki!

Then a very long haul (not a flat stretch of road in sight) via Tintagel to Bude ILB Station. Another warm welcome from David (and Linda & Lizzie in the RNLI Shop – a lovely cuppa -Thanks). About 20 more miles to the next stop at Clovelly ILB Station. A great fish & chips & beer supper at The New Inn (17th century) followed by a very cosy night at Chris & Sylvia’s B&B.20150907_200446
