Thurs 10 Sept: Weston-Super-Mare to Bristol, via Portishead

Huge thanks to old friends Anne & Keith for feeding me up & looking after me so well last night. A short last day (35miles) from Weston via Burnbeck Pier, site of the original WsM Lifeboat house on the now abandoned Burnbeck Island.

Then on via Clevedon to Portishead, the RNLI’s newest ILB Station. Thanks Derek (and the lovely volunteers in the RNLI shop), for the warm welcome and guided tour. I can see why you’re so proud of the beautiful new Portishead Boathouse and slipway.

End of Phase 1 treat: Lunch with Claire at The Royal Hotel (behind the new Boathouse) then cycled home to Bristol full of fish pie. Perfect.
